The combination of these two coastal areas and the high temperatures means that Guatemala can be hot and humid for most of the year. It is not uncommon for temperatures to reach 40 degrees Celsius, while nights are high and temperatures rarely drop below 20 degrees. Although some areas of the country of Guatemala have beaches nearby, they do not welcome as much rain as would be expected in other parts of Central America, especially in cooler climates such as Mexico and Honduras.
